Q. How did the name "iGrOOps" originate?

A. At first, I wanted the name "igroups" because of the correct spelling of the word "groups". But of course, being after 1995, the domain was taken. But it turned out to be for the best. The word "groops" is now a unique word trademarked by iGrOOps. The design of the logo with the two connected "O"'s symbolize what iGrOOps is all about -- connection.

I did manage to purchase the domain name "groops.com" as well, but after much consideration, I felt it would be better to brand this as "iGrOOps" without the ".com" vs. "GrOOps.com" since I feel ".com"'s do not have the best connotation after the "bust".

Here are some of the names that were considered but rejected:

  • groups-of-people-chillin-online.com
  • a-dang-impressive-site.com
  • much-better-than-what-is-out-there-now.com
  • i-cant-beleive-nobody-thought-of-this-before.com
  • cha-ching-for-me.com
(that last part was a joke)
